Jerusalem and Tel Aviv
We went to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for our second weekend here.
In Jerusalem we toured the old city with an MIT group, visited Yad Vashem (the holocaust museum) and the Israel Museum.
The next day we took a bus to Tel Aviv, and walked to Jaffa- the oldest part of Tel Aviv.
We got a slushy drink and went around a place with a lot of shops and art, with all the buildings made out of the same stone, and lots of cats walking around as usual.
We also went to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and there was an interesting art exhibit by a Russian Jewish woman, Zoya Cherkassky. She painted scenes of daily life in Russia that often were a comedic commentary on the influence of Zionism, and the contrasting the dichotomy between Russia and Israel with their similarities.
We then walked around next to the beach and then went to a nice restaurant for lunch! I tried lemonade with Arak, which is a popular licorice flavored drink in Israel.
Overall it was a very fun weekend!
